Scan images or documents using your Mac. If you have a scanner or a printer with a scanner, you may not need any special software to scan an image. Before you scan, you need to open your scanner. Then, follow the instructions for either a document-feeding scanner or a flatbed scanner. Make sure HP Easy Scan is installed on the Mac, and then set up the printer connection. Make sure your printer is on and connected to your Mac with a USB cable or local wireless network. Open Finder, select Applications, and then look for HP Easy Scan. If HP Easy Scan displays in the list, open it.

Frustrated, then Thrilled!
I've used HP Easy Scan for a few years with little trouble, but then I purchased a new Macbook Pro with Mojave OS and couldn't get this scan software to recognize my HP printer. However, with the right steps, it worked again! Regardless of whether your Macbook already recognizes your printer, go through the process of adding a new printer. While adding, you'll see Name, Location, and Use at the bottom of the window. The key is in the Use line...mine automatically selected AirPrint, but instead select the name of your printer and it'll search for appropriate driver from Apple. After new printer is installed, delete the old printer profile (minus button). Victory will be yours!
HP Easy Scan Saved the Day
I downloaded HP Easy Scan to my new iMac Pro and once the download completed and the App opened, I went to devices on my computer and clicked on my office 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8600' Icon -- immediately my computer started downloading a new print driver file. Once completed, a document that I had previously placed on my printer started being scanned. The Easy Scan App reappeared and when the scan completed and displayed in the App, I clicked on 'Send' which opened a save window where I selected a Folder for storing all future scans. Delighted, I stacked several documents on my printers from feed and each document was scanned. When completed and I clicked on Save. I went to my computer' scan folder and there each document had been saved to a separate jpeg. Thanks HP for a great, AND FREE, scan App. It will save me a lot of work back when I used to scan to a USB drive, switch it to my computer, and search HP_Scan directory and hope my document appeared. This is a productivity time saver! Kudos !!

Worst Experience I’ve ever had with a single software
I’ve owned by HP Officejet Pro 8620 for about two years, and it has been the perfect PRINTER for my small business. However, I had an important deadline requiring me to SCAN some sccompanying material, and after looking through the printer menus and also online, I downloaded this app thinking it would make the entire process easy. WRONG! After trying to configure this for a good portion of an hour, I am forced to quit because I have to go elsewhere if I want to ensure that this scan will be completed in time. I have been using computers for about 15 years, and this is the single worst experience I have EVER had with a single software. Not only am I missing my deadline because my scanner wont scan using this stupid app, but now I am going to have to drive out of my way and go find a third party place, to scan my documents (for a fee) because this app isn’t working right. My printer still works great, but I have physically written down a note and taped it to my printer to remind me that whenever this printer breaks, I will NEVER purchase an HP Product again, simply due to how horrific this experience was of trying to simply scan something using their built in scanner. Thanks HP!
